ProcessNow is a point of sale solution designed for TSYS and TransFirst (a payment processor that was purchased by competitor TSYS). There are two options, the ProcessNow Register (a more traditional point-of-sale solution) and ProcessNow Mobile, a portable option for businesses on the go. This review is about the Register; for details on ProcessNow Mobile, go here.
The ProcessNow Register replaces the TSYS Tablet, the previous tablet-based point-of-sale option. The Register equipment bundle, called the WindFall, includes a stand in your choice of 6 colors, with a matching cash drawer. The Register app is only compatible with the WindFall hardware, but can be used with both Android and Apple tablets.
If you’re considering a tablet-based point of sale system, here’s what you need to know about the ProcessNow Register available from TransFirst/TSYS.
The ProcessNow Register app offers the convenience of taking payments using a tablet with the functions of a point-of-sale system. Using the app, you’ll be able to accept all major credit and debit cards, allow customers to add tips during a transaction, print or email receipts, manage inventory, and view reports. You can even take PayPal in store, and view transactions online and export details to Excel or PDF formats.
The main menu for the Register gives you the options of going directly to the register for payments, adding or updating inventory, managing employee permissions, viewing tickets, and more.
Once you’re in the Register part of the app, you’ll see options for adding items to the order, searching inventory, and cashing out the sale. You can see the last item(s) that have been rung in, as well as view details such as whether the item is taxable, whether coupons or discounts apply, and more.

As a point-of-sale solution supported by TSYS, next-day funding is also available. Additionally, you’ll have access to 24-hour support based in the US.
The ProcessNow Register app is available for iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, the Google Nexus 7, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.
The ProcessNow Register requires a tablet (not included) but beyond that, hardware choices are up to you. TSYS offers a tablet stand, cash drawer, receipt printer, and barcode scanner. You can also connect a Rambler mobile swiper through the headphone jack to swipe payments instead of keying.
Tablet Stand
As of autumn 2016, a stand for iPads and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is available. The tablet stand comes in your choice of color (from 6 color options) and is lightweight and sturdy for differing environments.
Cash Drawer
The optional cash drawer is available in the same 6 colors as the tablet stand (black, white, green, orange, red, and yellow) and can be mounted to a counter or left freestanding. The drawer can be opened with the ProcessNow app and includes a key-lock override.
Receipt Printer
The printer that works seamlessly with the ProcessNow Register is a Star Micronics Bluetooth-enabled high-speed printer. Like the cash register, the printer can sit on a counter or be mounted underneath.
Barcode Scanner
You can eliminate manually keying in UPCs for products with the optional wireless barcode scanner. The Socket 7CI is a handheld, ergonomic design that offers 19 hours of scanning per full charge. The scanner connects via Bluetooth and has a connection range of about 300 feet from the Register tablet. The scanner must be within 20 inches of the barcode to scan.
It’s also possible to use both the ProcessNow Register and Mobile solutions for one business. If you take payments on the road only occasionally and want both a stationary and mobile processing option, you can use Register in-store and Mobile on-the road. You’ll benefit from centralized reporting, as your transaction details will be consolidated for your location regardless of which method you use to accept the payment.
The ProcessNow website doesn’t list MSRP for any of the equipment. Costs for the stand, cash drawer, receipt printer, and barcode scanner may vary depending on where you make the purchase. The WindFall bundle is available directly from TransFirst and TSYS.
Pricing for taking credit cards with ProcessNow is set on a case-by-case basis by the processing company you work with. (ProcessNow may be available from any payment provider that uses the TSYS platform.)
Your specific business type and card processing volume will affect the rates and fees you’ll pay. The program description is very misleading. As a gift shop owner, I need a program that keeps inventory. You can add your products into the program, but no way does it do an inventory management.
With large buttons and a bright color screen, the ProcessNow register offers an easy to use menu with great features like inventory management and employee tracking.
