HioPOS boasts easy, self-installation without training or need for technical support; good news if you’re hoping to avoid a complicated system. What else can you expect? Read on for more information about the HioPOS features, costs, and more.
All the HioPOS products run on Windows and use WiFi to connect devices. The base product includes a 15” touch screen with a receipt printer, customer display, and the point of sale software. HioPOS also offers additional equipment to suit your needs, including the HiOrder PDA, for servers to take orders at the table, the HiOrder screen for the kitchen and HiOffice for back office data management and statistics.
If you want to use the HioPOS to take credit and debit cards at your restaurant or store, you’ll need at minimum the HioPOS software, compatible hardware, and a merchant account with a compatible credit card processor. (See HioPOS and Credit Card Processing section for more info on compatible processors.)
As noted above, HioPOS offers a basic package that includes a touch screen, the HioPOS software, a receipt printer, and a customer display.
HioPOS is not a credit card processor itself, and therefore doesn’t publish pricing for processing on their website. You’ll need a merchant account with a compatible processor. That processor will be the one that sets your pricing. The good news is that HioPOS doesn’t limit you to a specific processor, so you’ll be able to look around or use CardFellow to find the most competitive costs.
HioPOS is compatible with USAePay, BridgePay, Velocity, TSYS, and First Data gateways, so any processor that supports those options can work with the HioPOS system. Need to know exactly what you’d pay? Use our free quote request tools to get a fully disclosed quote from processors that can support HioPOS.
HioPOS offers for products that work directly with each other to meet the needs of your business. You can use the main touchscreen register by itself, or add on the HioScreen kitchen display, HiOrder portable PDAs, and the HiOffice application for management functions. The devices boast options like controlling stock levels, an employee timeclock, tableside ordering, and back office management.
HioPOSplus
This is the main touch screen register that includes a customer display and a receipt printer. In addition to entering orders and processing sales, you can split checks, adjust quantities, and more. The unit can be connected with a barcode scanner if you’ll be scanning items with barcodes in a retail environment, or a scale for weighing items like produce or frozen yogurt. Stock levels and price lists can be controlled from this unit, and an employee timeclock lets your staff punch in directly through the POS.
HioScreen
The HioScreen is a display for the kitchen of your restaurant. It receives orders from the HioPOSplus or the HiOrder. It shows all your items to be prepared and served as well as the time that has elapsed since the order was requested.
HiOrder
This PDA style touch screen allows your servers to take orders at the table. The unit can connect to both the order printer in the kitchen and the receipt printer. The server can also select payment type and complete the sale from this device.
HiOffice
A back office application that allows you to configure your other HioPOS terminals across one or more establishments, the HiOffice option can help you receive sales information in real time, use the graphical report generator, and import items and prices from Excel. You can also export sales data in XML format to other management systems.
You can access reports from both the HioPOSplus and HiOffice. Reports can be delivered in statistical or graph form with a variety of filters such as: time frame, sales statistics, sales details, payment types, vendors and more. You can also manage users, compare units, amounts and daily averages between time periods, and view tax information.
The HioPOS can be supplemented with accessories, so you can build the right system for your specific needs. Available accessories include barcode readers, scales, cash drawers, printers, fingerprint readers, and magnetic strip card readers.
The HioPOS has plenty of good features, like tableside ordering with connected PDAs. It also lets you use almost any processor, so you aren't locked in to working with one particular company just because you want to use this POS system.
