Hypercom Equinox T4220 Review

When connecting via Ethernet, the dialup connections serve as a backup in case of loss of the primary connection. The T4220 features a 32-bit ARM9 processor for fast transaction processing.

Businesses can accept a range of payment types, including credit and debit cards. You can accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and more. An optional EMV reader allows you to accept the newer EMV technologies. Businesses can also process refunds and voids, accept EBT payments, and print duplicate receipts. When a connection is not available, the Hypercom Equinox T4220 can still accept payments in an offline (or "store and forward") mode, which will submit the transactions for authorization once a connection becomes available.

The terminal also offers reporting options to make it easy to manage behind-the-scenes business functions. You can print detailed information by batches and by clerk, print summary reports and settlement status, and print tip totals and unadjusted transaction information.

The Hypercom Equinox T4220 comes with a standard 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. Extended warranties may be available.

Security

For security, the Hypercom Equinox T4220 offers Triple DES and DUKPT. The T4220 is compatible with point-to-point encryption. The built-in PIN pad is PCI-PTS approved for security.

The T4220 features a 160 x 80 pixel bright, white backlit LED display for maximum visibility in a variety of lighting situations. Display is graphics capable, allowing you to add logos and other images The Hypercom Equinox T4220 includes a built-in ADA-style 19-button keypad. The terminal also includes 6 programmable navigation buttons. An optional privacy shield is available to protect customer’s PIN information during payment.

Memory

The T4220 includes 24MB of memory for loading and running payment software. Memory is divided into 8MB of flash and 16MB of SD-Ram.

Printer

The Hypercom Equinox T4220 includes a built-in SureLoad clamshell printer featuring drop-in paper loading in seconds. A fast 15 lines per second ensures quick receipt printing for customers. The printer is also graphics-capable, allowing you to print logos, barcodes, or QR codes on the receipt. The printer accepts standard 2.25" paper. (Maximum diameter: 50mm.)

Accessories

Optional accessories can be connected to the T4220 to increase the number of payment types that can be accepted. The terminal supports check imagers, PIN pads, and NFC readers.
