Formerly Alpha Card Services
The company works with a number of industries, including restaurants, retailers, healthcare, and professional services such as salons and auto repair.
As noted in the intro, Simpay offers multiple business services, including payment processing, commercial insurance, and an HCM / Employee Management platform that covers everything from onboarding new employees to payroll, benefits, and managing the employee experience. You don't have to use all of Simpay's services, but you'll be eligible for discounted pricing when you enroll in multiple programs.
Many businesses look to Simpay for payment processing. You can take major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, as well as checks and gift cards. You'll be able to take payments in multiple forms, including traditional magnetic strip cards, EMV chip cards, and contactless payments such as Apple Pay.
Simpay offers the ability to take cards in-person with traditional POS systems, online, or on the go using your smartphone or tablet, and states that most clients enjoy next-day funding of their transactions.
Simpay offers state-of-the-art POS and processing equipment, including many popular universal terminals. Exact models and specific features are available upon request by contacting Simpay.
Interested in a credit card surcharging model, where you pass processing fees to your customers? Simpay offers a surcharging program. With that program, the company sets things up so that you'll add a small percentage to the customer's total at checkout when they pay with a card. Surcharging is not available on debit cards, pre-paid cards, or EBT transactions. Additionally, it is not permitted in a couple states and may have additional rules or restrictions in other states. See our article on credit card surcharging for more information.
If you're looking to outsource payroll, Simpay can help. As a registered member of the American Payroll Association and the Independent Payroll Processors Association, the company promises to work with you to ensure that your staff is paid accurately and that you receive labor and payroll reports so you know what's going on. You can establish deductions, paid time accruals, and direct deposit as well as accurately account for federal and state taxes.
Does your restaurant want to provide an online food ordering system? Simpay has you covered with Simpay eats, allowing you to accept reservations online, or enable online orders for pickup and delivery. Your customers can place their order directly through your branded website, increasing sales without requiring you to give a percentage to a third-party food ordering service. You'll also benefit from real-time reporting and analytics to help you understand your online customers' needs and make smart business decisions.
Gift cards are key for businesses that want to increase sales and boost likelihood of repeat visits. Many customers spend more than the value of the gift card, making it a great way to bring in higher individual sales. Simpay can help by offering customizable gift cards that include your logo. Gift cards can be sold or used to provide store credit on returns, minimizing the likelihood that customers will go elsewhere.
In a "Find My Terminal" section of its website, the company lists several countertop terminal choices, including models from Dejavoo and Valor Paytech. However, the company supports virtually all terminals including PAX and First Data models.
Additionally, Simpay has its own proprietary gateway and works with virtually all gateways common in the industry to facilitate online transactions safely and securely.
For those needing a complete POS system for their business, Simpay offers a tailored POS solution with a "full suite of hardware choices" allowing you to choose between tablet systems, cloud-based systems, or stand-alone machines.
The website also mentions reports that help identify top sellers and underperforming items, manage inventory, and the ability to track staff time.
Simpay doesn't publish any information about pricing models or costs on its website, but that doesn't mean you can't find out what it will cost you. You can get a free quote to compare to other processors by using CardFellow's quote comparison tool. There's no sales pressure and no obligation.
Simpay also offers a quote comparison tool on its website. You can upload a statement to receive a quote in moments. However, at CardFellow we typically advise business owners not to send statements until quotes have been provided, as that will help ensure you're getting the processor's best possible deal. If you send a statement first, processors know exactly what you're paying and only have to undercut (or appear to undercut) your current pricing slightly, which may mean you're leaving money on the table.
While a processor will certainly need details about your business to provide a quote, they do not need a full statement. Your industry, average transaction size, monthly processing volume, and method of accepting payments is enough information to provide a quote.
At the time of this update, Simpay has a Better Business Bureau profile as well as Google reviews. While there are still Alpha Card Services reviews, we're focusing on the reviews specifically for the Simpay company name.
On the BBB's website, Simpay has an A+ rating with only 4 complaints in the past 3 years. The company responds to complaints, and attempts to work with the customers to find a satisfactory resolution to the issue. One of the complaints reads more like a review, expressing frustration with the company and alleging backend issues. Simpay responded that it's a review, not a complaint, stating that the customer's terminal didn't work properly and there was nothing they couldn't fix. Other complaints allege that Simpay didn't file payroll taxes in a timely manner. The company responded explaining the pandemic had caused delays but that they were working on all issues and dedicated to resolving it.
Currently, Simpay has 4 starts on Google reviews. Most of the reviews are positive, and state that the company is easy to set up, provides state-of-the-art equipment, has knowledgeable support staff, responds promptly to questions or issues, provides competitive pricing, and is professional and easy to work with. The few negative reviews complain that the company files taxes late and that customer service is unfriendly or unhelpful. A few reviews are too generic to provide any useful detail.
Have you used Simpay at your business? What was your experience? Leave a review!
Unlike general web reviews, verified reviews are posted by businesses that have chosen the processor's quote through CardFellow's marketplace, and CardFellow has confirmed with the processor that the business is using its service. Businesses can update verified reviews at any time to ensure the review accurately reflects the processor's performance over time.
Unlike verified reviews which are validated by CardFellow, web reviews can be submitted by anyone viewing this profile. While we validate these reviews as best we can, CardFellow does not verify that a reviewer is using or has used a processor's service.

Unprofessional in handling accounts. They have hidden fees and you get charged for things you never signed for. I will never give my business to this bunch of crooks.

They failed to file/report our taxes on multiple occasions in a timely manner. We currently have assessed late filing penalties & interest charges for which SIMPAY has refused to compensate us for even when their client services agreement says they will pay for fines & interest arising from their errors. We have it in writing from the PA Department of Labor that the taxes were not paid and the penalties assessed to us are valid.

Please stay away from this company. I had 2 transactions where the customer used 2 gift cards to process the payments. It has been 3 days now that they put a hold on the payments. They are worried that the gift cards might be fraud related which I completely understand. But my customer has said they purchased it with cash so there shouldn’t be any problems. Now they are requesting personal info from my customers' transactions which I think is completely irrelevant. I can understand if it was a charge back and they‘re requesting the info which would be fine, but here there’s nothing wrong with the transactions. Only problem they’re claiming is because it’s a large transaction. Makes no sense to me. I’ve had other merchant services before and never had this many problems. Matter of fact I never had any problem until recently, when I did business with Simpay. Please stay away from this company. They have no idea how to run their business and customer service is horrible!

Please stay away from this merchant service provider. Bad customer services and hidden contract. I didn't sign any contract with them but when I cancel the service they said I have 5 year contract. They charged me $2,000 to cancel a contract that I didn't even know about. They also charge $300 for not having chip card reader. Stay away from Simpay at all cost.
