Partnered with Lavu and Vend, MPI can also provide software solutions to restaurants and retailers. In this Mercantile Processing Inc. review and profile we’ll paint you the whole picture, outlining MPI’s services and filling you in on the company’s reputation.
MPI has a variety of processing options to fit the needs of both card-present and card-not-present situations. Other features include things like gift and loyalty cards, payroll solutions, and ATMs. The company also has an online store for purchasing credit card processing equipment.
MPI offers credit and debit card processing in-store, online, and with a mobile device. Cards can be accepted in-store using traditional countertop credit card terminals, wireless terminals, or full-featured point of sale systems. Online processing allows businesses to integrate with shopping carts to accept credit cards in e-commerce websites. You can also set up recurring billing and process card-not-present transactions using a secure virtual terminal. For taking credit cards on the go, MPI has integrated payment apps for a variety of mobile devices, including iPhones, Android smartphones, Blackberries, and more.
If you want to offer gift cards or loyalty cards, MPI offers an in-house program. Gift cards are reloadable and work with almost any credit card processing terminal. Festive seasonal and holiday envelopes are available to complement the gift cards. Loyalty cards let you reward customers by giving them points to redeem for discounts, products, or services. MPI also offers a combination gift and loyalty card, allowing customers the convenience of only needing to carry one card.
MPI also has gift and loyalty card tracking so you can easily measure the effectiveness of the program. Additionally, you can encourage customers to register their cards and inform them of specials, offer birthday or special event discounts, and more via email or text.
If you are looking to have an ATM at your location, MPI’s got you covered. New and refurbished ATMs are available, and wireless ATM models can also be purchased. MPI allows businesses to set their own surcharge, meaning you decide if you want to collect 100% of the surcharge cost to customers, not charge one at all, or anything in between. Having that option can be helpful for providing additional income, or by choosing not to surcharge customers at the ATM you can increase customer satisfaction, loyalty, and foot traffic.
MPI boasts a secure online payroll system for businesses that need to easily track employee pay. The MPI payroll system allows you to enter pay data, create digital paystubs, offer direct deposit, file and pay both state and federal taxes, and manage deductions for employee benefits including health insurance costs, 401(k) contributions, and more. MPI’s Payroll solution also offers real-time reporting.
If you are in the restaurant business or retail business, you might be looking for ways to make running your company more streamlined. MPI says it has a couple of options for you:
Lavu
Lavu is a point-of-sale (POS) system specifically designed for restaurants. It works only with iPads but integrates placing orders, viewing orders, accepting payments, viewing reports, and managing resources into one neat little bundle.
Vend
Similar to Lavu but designed for retailers, Vend is a POS system that integrates POS payments, eCommerce, and sales operations. It can also work offline, so you don’t have to worry about missing a sale if you are suddenly without internet. It works with iPads, Mac, and PC and you can obtain hardware for your specific needs.
MPI maintains an equipment store online for purchasing processing equipment, with new and refurbished options. The MPI equipment store offers products in a number of categories, including terminals, swipers, printers, stands, accessories, and other options. MPI partners with Lavu for point of sale systems and offers financing for Lavu equipment.
The company also offers bundled equipment packages. Available bundles include retail POS systems, food service POS system, food truck systems, and more. Equipment included in each bundle varies, but may have items such as lockable cash drawers, receipt printers, routers, and kitchen printers.
MPI’s available equipment brands include Apple, iDynamo, PAX, Linea Pro, Epson, Lavu, and more.

Solid customer service experience and lowest rates, too (at the time that I signed up.)

JUST SAY NO. They sold us gift cards with duplicate numbers. We lost multiple customers and have never been refunded for the cost or damage our nonprofit incurred, so we cancelled our account in December 2019. They continued to charge us for their service through June 2020. They have no integrity and they do not care. Please do not make the same mistake we did! I can and will verify all of this information.
